Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the process take?

We’ll acknowledge your submission within 5–10 working days. Account reviews and final settlements usually take 2–6 weeks, depending on the estate and information provided.

Is my information secure?

Yes. All information is encrypted, stored securely, and handled in line with GDPR and bank-level security standards.

What if I don't have all the account details?

That’s fine — please share what you can. We can usually locate the account using the deceased’s name, address, and date of birth.

Do I need to provide a death certificate?

Yes. A copy or digital upload of the death certificate helps us verify the details and process everything more quickly, this can be sent later when you have it.

What happens with any outstanding balance or credit?

If there’s a balance to pay, we’ll arrange to send details to the executor or next of kin.

If there’s a credit, we’ll arrange a refund to the estate once the account is closed.

What if there’s a joint account?

Joint accounts are usually transferred to the remaining account holder, once we’ve verified the information, we will update the account and remove the deceased customers name from the account.

Can the account be transferred to someone else?

No, we will arrange a Change of Tenant, this will only be completed if this person is moving or staying within the property and taking over the supply, the balance due by the estate will be issued to the executor.

Who can complete the form?

A family member, executor, solicitor, or authorised representative can complete the bereavement form on behalf of the estate.

What support is available if I need help?

Our Bereavement Support Team is here to assist you with care and discretion. You can reach us by phone or email if you need help completing the form or have any questions.
